Support the Sam Houston Area Council

The Sam Houston Area Council hosts a number of special events throughout the year to fund various Scouting programs and to recognize the outstanding individuals that provide those programs. Here are some events coming up this year:

The Dodgeball Challenge is a fundraiser that helps the council achieve its mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. As many as 60 ten-player teams compete for the Patches O’Houllihan Championship Cup.
The Golf Classic is a fundraiser to support the council. The game will be played in a scramble format with prizes awarded to the top three foursomes on each course. Prizes will also be given for the longest drive and closest to the pin on each course. All proceeds from the event go to support Scouting in the 16 counties supported by the Sam Houston Area Council.
The New Eagle Scout Reception recognizes the previous year’s Eagle Scout Class. The council continues its tradition of providing this reception is free of charge for new Eagle Scouts and their guests.  The evening is underwritten with generous sponsorships by many Eagle Scout alumni, charter members and patrons.  
The Sporting Clays Tournament is an annual event to support the Sam Houston Area Council's programs for at-risk youth. Up to one hundred four-person teams can compete in the shotgun shooting game.
The Distinguished Family Dinner is an opportunity to honor an individual for making a distinct difference in the fabric of the greater Houston area. Proceeds support the many youth development programs of the Sam Houston Area Council. 
Celebrating Cultures community and business leader networking event will celebrate African-American, Asian and Hispanic cultures, and highlight the wonderful and unique food, beverages, dress and customs of these prominent cultures in Southeast Texas.
