Red Wolf District logoThe Red Wolf District serves Scouting units in the eastern and southwest side of the Cypress-Fairbanks school district and the eastern Area of Cy-Fair ISD attendance zones of Harris County and the southwest side of the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD south of West Rd and west of Eldridge Pkwy.

Red Wolf Roundtable

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting to help unit leaders plan and carry out a successful program. Typically, the meeting is held the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Jersey Village Civic Center (16327 Lakeview Dr, Jersey Village, TX 77040) .

Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. There is something for everyone, no matter what your role is in Scouting. The objective of roundtable is to give adults program ideas, information on events and training opportunities, and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.

Webelos Woods

November 10-12, 2023

Webelos WoodsThe Webelos Woods is a weekend campout for 4th and 5th-grade Webelos Scouts. The 5th-grade Webelos Scouts get a sneak preview of what to expect in Scouting. The 4th-grade focus on Webelos Scout activities. Webelos Scouts will earn achievements, and start developing Scouting skills and learning teamwork. The program activities will be conducted under adult leadership with assistance from area troops. A Webelos Scout can earn advancements by just attending during the day but will get the full program if camping.

Rocket Day

Rocket Day

All new Cub Scouts and parents are invited to their first district Scouting event. Bring your rocket to build, design and launch at Rocket Day. Scouts in kindergarten through fifth grade who are interested in joining Scouting may also attend. Staff will be available to help them register and locate a pack near them.

Returning Scouts and families are also invited to attend and can bring rockets from previous years and an engine to launch again.

SPL Focus GroupThe Sam Houston Area Council is dedicated to ensuring the Scouts in our council have the best possible experience. As we strive to enhance our camping and outdoor programs, we value your input on how we can make them even better. The Camping and Outdoor Program Committee invites all senior patrol leaders, assistant senior patrol leaders, and Scoutmasters (or their designees) from all troops in the council to join us for a focused discussion and pizza dinner at the Cockrell Scout Center.

This is your chance to directly influence our council's camps and programs by sharing your thoughts and suggestions. The council leadership is committed to continuous improvement, and your voice is essential. As a token of our appreciation, we will also hold drawings for door prizes in addition to enjoying pizza together. We kindly ask that each troop respond and inform us of your availability for this interactive focus group session.

Angler Classic

Calling all anglers for the ultimate fishing tournament for Scouts in troops, crews and ships at Camp Strake. Armed with fishing rods, Scouts in troops will have a chance to showcase their skills and reel in the big catch in the spirit of friendly competition. Scouts can attend individually for the day; units can camp for the weekend.

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a weekend event for Scouts in troops, crews, and ships. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as shooting sports, climbing, swimming, ziplining, and boating. Scouts will spend a half-day working on a merit badge. There will be six themed events held next year. Full Throttle is a great way for Scouts to have fun, learn new skills, and earn merit badges.

STEM Camp is a new extraordinary opportunity for Scouts in troops, crews and ships to work on STEM-related merit badges and Nova awards. Scouts can engage in hands-on learning and explore exhilarating STEM programs, exhibits, and activities. If a Scout wants to learn more about science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, then this is the week to be at camp!

University of Scouting

Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help leaders and parents enhance their ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts. Scouts in troops can take Den Chief and Troop Guide Training or merit badge classes.

Winter camp is a wonderful opportunity for troops to camp and Scouts to earn merit badges and participate in fun evening program and activities There are over 80 merit badge classes taught by Scouters with real-life experiences in the field. Similar to summer camp, Super Troop is being added for individual Scouts.

Summer Camp 2024

Summer Camp is a week-long council-organized overnight camp for Scouts in troops that operates under council-retained leadership. There are unique programs for first-year Scouts and experienced Scouts. Summer camp is held at Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility for Scouts and their leaders. Program areas include shooting sports (rifle, shotgun, archery, sporting arrows), climbing, rappelling, boating (canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, rowing), swimming, ATV riding, ziplining, cycling, merit badge classes and more.
