Silver Beaver Award

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.

Winter camp is an opportunity for troops to camp and Scouts to earn merit badges. Merit badge classes are taught by Scouters with real-life experiences in the field. Winter camp will be held at the new Camp Strake

Summer Camp
June/July, 2022

Summer camp is a week-long overnight camp for Scouts BSA that provides opportunities for Scouts to earn merit badges along their advancement trail.

Summer camp is held at Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility. Program areas include shooting sports, climbing, rappelling, swimming, boating, ATV riding, merit badge classes, and more.

Shooting Sports Training

The shooting sports committee is providing rifle training and instructor certification to prepare those individuals who will serve in a leadership or supervisory role in the various shooting sports activities.

First Aid Training

The council offers are a variety of first aid training courses throughout the year including First Aid/CPR/AED, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course, and Wilderness First Aid.

Summer camp is a week-long council-organized overnight camp for Scouts BSA that operates under council-retained leadership.  The program provides opportunities for Scouts to earn merit badges along their advancement trail.

The safety of children in our programs is the most important priority of the Boy Scouts of America.

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a weekend event for Scouts BSA. Troops who are camping at Camp Strake in September can sign up their Scouts to participate in program areas such as shooting sports (rifle, shotgun, archery), climbing, COPE, swimming, boating, and ATV. The camp staff provides the program leadership.

Scouting Supports Education

Scouting activities contribute to the academic development of the children who participate. 

The Cub Scout program supports over 120 elementary standards (TEKS) that students are to learn. More than 85% of merit badges include requirements that meet National Science Education Standards, giving Scouts a foundation in everything from nuclear science to robotics.
