Help test the
Summit! This is an exciting opportunity for youth and adults to be among the first to Camp at the Summit Bechtel Reserve and to play an important role in the final planning process for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.
The purpose of the 2012 Summit Shakedown is to test various components of the new Jamboree model on-site at the
Summit. The format will be a long weekend starting on Friday morning July13 and ending on Tuesday morning, July 17.
The Sam Houston Area Council will form a Troop to attend the Shakedown. We can take 36 youth and 4 Adults. The cost will be $550.00 per person. Registration in the Troop for the Shakedown is open to all Scouts and Adult Leaders who meet the qualifications listed below.

Houston to the
Summit in
West Virginia.(Leave
Houston on July 12th)
All meals
Tents- cots- all equipment and supplies.
Participants need only to bring personal gear.
Uniforms will be worn for travel to and from the
Summit but will not be required during the off site and on site programs. Activity uniforms will be worn for the programs.
Daily Schedule
The particular program elements to be included will be primarily those that are new to the Summit Jamboree model and are not intended to represent all of the programs elements to be offered in 2013.
High adventure program by patrols. Possible program elements (subject to change) are climbing, rappelling, canopy tour, zip lines, BMX, skateboarding, mountain biking, shooting sports and archery. Off site adventures are white- water rafting and technical rock climbing.
All participants will take part in a detailed evaluation process before, during and after the event to provide important feedback to the 2013 Jamboree team.
