Internet Advancement
As of January 2011 the Sam Houston Area council has required the use of Internet Advancement for all ranks and merit badges.
Internet Advancement can be accessed in two ways: through www.myscouting.org or through our website at www.samhoustonbsa.org via the link below (Internet Advancement next to the picture of the youth on bicycles).
At this time, do not enter any belt loops - there is a know glitch and they may not save.
It is possible to upload your advancement files directly from some third party software programs. theses include, but are not limited to, Troop/Pack Master, Scout Soft and Scout Mate. the full list can be found by the "Upload Advancement File" button in Internet Advancement.
Internet Advancement is designed to have one person from each unit as the designated "Processor". This person can only be changed by resetting the login information. this reset can only be done by a council employee. Please contact Kathy Bozarth at 713-756-3303 or kathy.bozarth@scouting.org.
To get your unit ID# you can look a the list posted at the bottom of this page, or you can contact your Scouting professional or Support Services.
Please note that the ONLY rank that cannot be entered via Internet Advancement is the Eagle Scout Rank. Enter the merit badges and other ranks prior to bringing Eagle applications to the office to be approved for the Board of Review.

Unit advancement processor must have Internet connectivity and have Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher.

Gather advancement information including Advancement Reports from Boards of Review for Rank advancements, Den Leader records, Merit Badge "blue cards", etc. Please note that ALL ranks for Boy Scout Troops, Teams, Crews & Ships require a Board of Review AND a completed Advancement Report with the board of review members' signatures.

through MyScouting or Internet Advancement portal below on this page.
Follow the instructions in Internet Advancement to process advancements
and print two advancement reports. Have the appropriate people sign the printed unit advancement report and submit to the Scout Shop. Save a copy for your files.
- Anyone can sign the Internet Advancement Report, and then take it to the Scout Shop to purchase rand and merit badge patches.
- Passwords can be reset by contacting Kathy Bozarth at 713-756-3303 or kathy.bozarth@scouting.org.
