All the wonder and beauty of Central Texas rolling hills and lakes is available at Bovay Scout Ranch, located three miles south of Navasota on the east side of Highway 6 on County Road 317.
Huisache and Bois D'arc trees surround many of the campsites and cover the hills. The entire 1421 acres are a natural paradise for plants and wildlife. The historic Fahee House at the Walnut Grove dates back to 1836 as the first structure in Grimes County. The camp abounds with marine life, and has several lakes teaming with bass, crappie, perch, and catfish. Nature study, bugs, animal tracks, and conservation are vital elements of the camp program. Coyotes and bobcats are plentiful.
The aquatic facilities of George Lake are among the finest available. The Water Park is the center of the swimming and fun activities. Rowing, canoeing. and rafting are enjoyed on George Lake. The program is under the supervision of qualified adults, certified by National Camp School of the Boy Scouts of America. These adults are assisted by a fully trained staff to give leadership and instruction to all Scouts.
Field Sports, BMX, Archery, and Riflery, are other activities included in the Bovay program. These programs have something for both the youngest and oldest Cub Scouts in the Pack.
Several special summer programs have been developed to spice up the regular Webelos program. Favored are pioneering projects with pine poles, Indian Lore, rowing, action archery, and rocketry.
A central air-conditioned dining hall provides hearty meals from a modern kitchen. Tables are arranged by campsites. Grace and table manners are as important here as Cub Scouting skills.
All reservation are being accepted through Tami Kinn, Camp Strake.
