    The Distinguished Commissioner Service Award
    Sam Houston Area Council

The KEY ingredient to consideration for the Distinguished Commissioner Service Award is the word SERVICE, and commissioners in Sam Houston Area Council have long exemplified that spirit of service to our units for decades.  We are honored to bestow the Distinguished Commissioner Service Award each year to deserving Scouters who complete the following requirements.

Council Commissioners, Assistant Council Commissioners, District Commissioners, Assistant  District Commissioners and Unit Commissioners:

    1. Complete Basic Commissioner Training and earn the Commissioner’s Key.
    2. Serve as an active Commissioner for at least five consecutive years and be currently registered with the Boy Scouts of America.
    3.  Recharter at least 90 percent of the units in your area of service for a minimum of the last two years.
    4. Assist units so that more than 60% of the units in your area of service achieve the national Quality Unit Award for a minimum of the past two consecutive years.
    5. Complete the application and submit to Director of Field Service office.

    Requirements for Roundtable Commissioners:

    1.  Complete Basic Commissioner Training and earn the Commissioner’s Key.
    2. Serve as an active Commissioner for five consecutive years and be currently registered with the Boy Scouts of America.
    3. Conduct at least nine Roundtable sessions per year for the past two consecutive years.
    4. Complete the application and submit to Director of Field Service office.

The Distinguished Commissioner Service Award knot may be presented to the recipient at an official District or Council function within 30 days after submission and approval of application.  The certificate and ribbon/badge will be presented at Sam Houston Area Council’s College of Commissioner Science session, held each year on the first Saturday in December.
