The event generated $106,090 in net proceeds. SAM HOUSTON AREA COUNCIL GOLF CLASSIC BlackHorse Golf Club was the site of the 39th Annual Sam Houston Area Council Golf Classic. The event garnered $85,660 in net proceeds. SERVICE AWARDS LUNCHEON The Service Award Luncheon is an event to recognize individuals and organizations who have made an outstanding contribution toward implementing Scouting opportunities for under-served youth in urban and rural areas. The net proceeds of the event totaled $30,133. The Honorees included: Martin Pham “Asian-American Spirit of Scouting Award.” Adrian Garcia “Scouting … Vale la Pena! Service Award.” Lionel R. Jellins, George M. Fleming, and The George Foundation “Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award.” UNITED WAY The Sam Houston Area Council received $1,486,907 in support from our United Way partners, which included United Way of Greater Houston, Montgomery County United Way and United Way of Greater Baytown & Chambers County. SPORTING CLAYS TOURNAMENT The 19th Annual Sporting Clays Tournament was held at Rio Brazos Hunting Preserve. The event generated $234,161 in net proceeds THE COCKRELL FOUNDATION MATCHING ENDOWMENT Since 2010, The Cockrell Foundation has matched contributions to the Endowment for individual gifts from $500 to a lifetime cumulative maximum of $25,000. In 2015, 138 donors gave $312,266 to the Endowment. The Cockrell Foundation matched these gifts with their own contribution of $312,266 to the Endowment.
