Enjoy all the wonder and beauty of Central Texas rolling hills and lakes at Bovay Scout Ranch, located three miles south of Navasota on the east side of Highway 6 on County Road 317. Bovay Scout Ranch was purchased in 1994 with a lead gift from Harry and Sue Bovay. Additional funds from the Vision 2000 capital campaign made the McNair Cub Adventure Camp and Duke Energy Camporee additions possible in 2001. McNair Cub Adventure Camp is primarily used by Cub Scouts for weekend camping and summer resident camp. Bovay offers two weekend camping adventures. Pack Outings offer the flexibility of handling your own meals and program while Family Camping Weekends offer a more relaxing experience with the camp staff providing meal service and program. Both programs are a great opportunity and sure to leave a lasting impression on a scout's memory of the Bovay experience. The Duke Energy Camporee Area is primarily used for district events such as Camporees, Webelos Woods and Cuborees. For a nominal fee, weekend reservations can be made and availability information obtained by calling 713-865-9123 or toll-free at 1-877-272-2267 or by email at carmen.rodriguez@shac.org.

The entire 1498 acres are a natural paradise for plants and wildlife. Huisache and Bois D'arc trees surround many of the campsites and cover the hills. The camp abounds with marine life, and has several lakes teaming with bass, crappie, perch, and catfish. Nature study, bugs, animal tracks, and conservation are vital elements of the camp program.

The aquatic facilities of George Lake are among the finest available for paddle boating, sailing, canoeing, and rafting. The Water Park is the center of the swimming and fun activities. The program is under the supervision of qualified adults, certified by National Camp School of the Boy Scouts of America. These adults are assisted by a fully trained staff to give leadership and instruction to all Scouts.

Field Sports, BMX, Archery, and Riflery, are other activities included in the Bovay program. These programs have something for both the youngest and oldest Cub Scouts in the Pack.

Several special summer programs have been developed to spice up the regular Webelos program. Favored are pioneering projects with pine poles, Indian Lore, rowing, action archery, and rocketry.

A central air-conditioned dining hall provides hearty meals from a modern kitchen on Family Weekend Camping and during Summer Resident Camp. Tables are arranged by campsites. Grace and table manners are as important here as Cub Scouting skills.
