SHAC

Welcome to the Home of Sam Houston Area Council's International Scouting!

International Scouting in SHAC is organized and led by the International Committee. The International Committee relies heavily on a very dynamic, dedicated, and diverse group of volunteers to bring a truly International flavor to the Scouts in the Greater Houston area and to the surrounding Councils. Everyone has something to contribute to the group's diversity. We are always looking for more people interested in expanding their knowledge about another culture other than their own. Whether you have an international experience to share or simply want to learn more about International Scouting, you belong to our gorup of volunteers called, the "SHAC International Group." To join this group and start receiving periodic e-mails about International Scouting, simply send an e-mail to SHACInternationalGroup@yahoo.com

Learning More About International Scouting.  Did you know that number of Scouts registered in Boy Scouts of America in 2010 only account for roughly 7.7% of the number of Scouts around the globe?  You read correctly.  With only 2.7 million registered Scouts in the BSA, there are about 32.3 million more Scouts elsewhere.  One of our goals is to raise awareness that “we are not alone.”  In fact, Scouts from around the world are working together to make a positive impact in their local communities, in their nations, and in our world.  Find out more about opportunities to participate in Scout program in another country here: http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/International/ProgramEnrichment.aspx.

Activities for Your Units.
Your Scouts can earn the International Activity Patch. Find out more at
http://www.samhoustonbsa.org/camping_and_events/activities/world_jamboree. Each Scout program has its own requirements, so be sure to use the correct form for your unit. Through earning the International Activity Patch, your Scouts will learn more about different cultures and Scouting around the world.
