Camp Strake and the pipeline project
The Texas Express Pipeline, which has the power of eminent domain, has begun their pipeline project that will run along Camp Strake within an easement that was approved by the Executive Committee in March 2012. They are laying 580 miles of pipeline to transport natural gas liquids. The pipeline is coming from Skellytown, Texas in Carson County and going to a storage facility in Mont Belvieu, Texas. This will be a 20“pipeline. Texas Express Pipeline has cleared the 90' of easement for this pipeline. We have been informed by the City of Conroe that Texas Express Pipeline did acquire all the necessary permits from them.
Enterprise owns an existing permanent easement and operates a petroleum pipeline with an 8” pipe that runs along the north side of Camp Strake on the Loop 336 side and then turns and runs along the I-45 side of Camp Strake for approximately 850 feet. AT&T also has an easement with a fiber optic cable running along the I-45 side of Camp Strake. The Texas Express Pipeline will run adjacent to the Enterprise pipeline. see diagram
We wanted you to be aware because you will see heavy equipment and some clearing. Camp Strake has not been sold and no development has been submitted to the City of Conroe. What you will see is the pipeline getting underway.
We will continue to provide updates on the relocation of Camp Strake as progress is made.
