Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow

Thanks to everyone who helped make Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow a fun-filled formula for success!  Some of you taught classes...  some of you helped with registration, promotion, or facilities... some of you shared your experience by recommending trainers from your district.  Whatever your role, it's all part of the big picture that made the day fun, inspiring, and motivating for the leaders in attendance.

Many, many thanks to 2007 Chair Suzanne Becker and her staff for their leadership in training who we now affectionately know as SHAC's first class of "certified Cubologists."

Over the past two years, attendance at Sam Houston Area Council's Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow has doubled from 400 to nearly 800 participants.  We hope that this trend will continue as we begin to look toward 2008.  More leaders at Pow Wow translates very simply into an exciting quality program for a greater number of youth.

I am pleased to announce that two very creative and dedicated Scouters from Flaming Arrow District have accepted the challenge to chair our 2008 event - Gene and Alice Hamilton.  The Hamiltons were the editors of the outstanding "Pow Wow Book" CD this year.  If you haven't yet seen the publication, check with Program Services to get a copy.  It is awesome!

Look forward to exciting news ahead as they choose a theme and assemble a team for next year's event.  We'll keep you posted!
