 A Quick Look at the Overall Prize & Recognition Plan

The Sam Houston Area Council popcorn sale offers prizes and recognition in several ways:

·          NEW: Prizes will come from Trail’s End (the “prize brochure” prizes), which are earned by youth for reaching specified levels in sales.  Units have the option of selecting Trails-end prizes and receiving a 30% commission on sales, or waiving the Trail’s End prizes and receive a 35% commission on sales.

·          Prizes from council-sponsored promotions (Aeros, Super Salesman Prize Drawings, etc.) for all selling youth, are eligible for these prizes regardless of the option taken with Trails-end prizes.

·          As well as recognition items and prizes from the council for top-selling youth at the district and council levels, and for the top-selling units at the council level.  All selling youth and units are eligible for these prizes, regardless of the option taken with Trail’s End prizes.  Winners will be selected from unit orders submitted to Trails’ End and reported via the new council spreadsheet by midnight Friday, October 26, 2007.

 A Quick Look at the Aeros Prize Program

·          Sell $150 and receive one free lower level ticket to Aeros Boy Scout Night on a date to be determined.

·          Sell $500 and receive the above, plus participate in a special pre-game program at Toyota Center.

·          Sell $1,000 and receive the above, plus an autographed player card.

·          Sell $2,000 and receive the above, plus an Aeros hockey puck and message board recognition.

·          Top seller in the council participates in ceremonial puck drop to start the game, plus receives an Aeros hockey jersey and 4 free center ice tickets.

·          Top selling unit in the council selects 4 scouts to participate as honorary color guard to start the game.

·          All prizes and activities available only for Boy Scout Night with the Houston Aeros.

 A Quick Look at the Super Salesman Prize Program

·          Receive one entry in the Super Salesman drawing for every $250 in sales.

·          New prizes are announced every Friday of the sale.  Watch for the Prize Patrol News to arrive via email every Friday, beginning September 14, or check the council website for the latest list of prizes. 

·          Winners will be selected on Friday, November 16, and will be notified by mail to attend the Celebration Dinner on Saturday, December 1, to select their prizes.

A Quick Look at the Olympian Prize Program

·          Receive one entry in the Olympian drawing for every $1,000 in sales.

·          New prizes are announced every Friday of the sale.  Watch for the Prize Patrol News to arrive via email every Friday, beginning September 14, or check the council website for the latest list of prizes. 

·          Winners will be selected on Friday, November 17, and will be notified by mail to attend the Celebration Dinner on Saturday, December 1, to select their prizes.

 A Quick Look at the “Major Popcorn” Superhero of the Week Prize Program

·          All salesmen are invited to submit a brief email to popcorn@shac.org by Wednesday night each week, beginning September 27, telling how their Major Popcorn Olympic sales are going and/or what Olympian ideas they are using to sell popcorn.

·          Winners will be announced every Friday, beginning September 28.  Watch for the Prize Patrol News to arrive via email every Friday, or check the council website for the latest list of winners and prizes. 

 A Quick Look at the Blue Bell Ice Cream Prize

·          All units with 100% of active youth selling popcorn will receive Blue Bell ice cream for a party after the sale.

·          It doesn’t matter how much popcorn each youth sells, just as long as EVERYBODY sells some popcorn!

* A Quick Look at the Council Top-Seller Prizes *

·          Top Five Council Salesmen receive a trophy, council-wide recognition, and 4 tickets to an Astros game.

·          Top District Salesmen receive a trophy, council-wide recognition, and a party at Celebration Station in January.

·          Top-Selling Units receive winners ribbon, council-wide recognition, and a plaque marking $10,000 sales and above.

A Quick Look at Other Exciting Prizes

·          Scouts selling $2,500 earn college scholarship funds from Trails’ End.  See website for details.

·          Scouts selling $1,500 earn a bonus $50 gift card for Toys R Us or Wal-Mart from Trails’ End. *

·          Scouts selling $250 receive a Super Salesman patch.

·          Scouts selling one container receive a patch and a pin.
