The Founders Circle
The Founders Circle, is intended to recognize deferred gifts designated to the Council's permanent endowment fund. Donors are recognized for gift commitments made now, which will benefit the Council in the future. Gifts to the Founders Circle are recognized beginning at $100,000. Unlike other endowment recognition societies and awards, a donor may qualify for Founders Circle membership with gifts made through: charitable bequests in a will or through a codicil to a will; charitable trusts such as a unitrust, annuity trust, remainder trust or a lead trust; life insurance proceeds, retirement plan designations or other deferred gifts.
As with the 1910 Society there are four levels of membership within the Founders Circle. They are Bronze- $100,000 or more, Silver- $250,000 or more, Gold- $500,000 or more and Platinum-$1,000,000 or more. The early founders of Scouting in the United States had the vision and commitment to make Scouting the number one youth organization the America. In that spirit, we honor the modern-day visionaries who qualify for the Founders Circle.
Monies contributed to the Endowment Fund through the Founders Circle are never spent, only the interest is used to further the programs and outreach of the Sam Houston Area Council.
Names of members of the Sam Houston Area Council's endowment societies will be etched in beautiful glass panels that are located in the lobby of the Cockrell Scout Center. For more information on this or other endowment societies, please call Jeff Woolsey, Director of Development Services at 713-756-3315.
