62 Years of Camping

Every year Camp Strake becomes home to 850 Scouts and 300 Leaders and Staff from all over the council working on a wide variety of merit badges.  Winter Camp is so BIG that we use two sub camps for this monumental undertaking.  The traditional Garnd Lake and the historical Tall Timbers sub camps:

Grand Lake has 21 primitive campsites.

Tall Timbers has 12 primitive campsites.

There are two full service kitchens with dinning halls for each, A full time trading post, office and health lodge in each sub-camp.

Opportunities

Camp Strake Winter Camp offers over 70 different merit badges to help your scout have a full schedule while at camp.

The merit badges offered at Winter Camp are as varied as the Scouts who come to camp, Most merit badges that are offered at camp are the non-traditional meritbadges that a scout may not have the opportunity to earn at other camps.

All instructed by Adult Scouters with vocational experiance with the merit badge.  Ranging from traditonal badges like Wilderness Survival and Astronomy to Radio and Atomic Energy.

Winter camp also offers nine Eagle Required Merit Badges.

Winter Camp also offers a wide variety of programs, from Movie night to the BIG THEME SHOW.  Winter camp is the best place to spend the last week of your year.
