62 Years of Camping

Grand Lake is home to weekend camping for Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews, Urban Scouting, and other groups.  Grand Lake has 21 primitive campsites, two activity areas, two major traning sites and a primitive camporee site. There is a full service kitchen and 119 acre lake for all types of water activities.

This 2,288 acre property is located 2 miles south of Conroe on Interstate 45 in the Texas Piney Woods. Grand Lake has 21 troop sites. Because of its close proximity to the Metropolitan area, Camp Strake is the world's most used Scout facility.

Going North on I-45 and after crossing the San Jacinto, take the "Camp Strake Road" exit. Continue North to the stop light, turn left under the freeway, and left again onto the southbound feeder. The Camp Strake entrance is about 200 yards South on the right.
