COMMISSIONERS IN ACTION

Rypien

DAVID RYPIEN, Assistant District Commissioner, Mustang District, was called to active duty last year as part of the U.S. Navy Reserves. David spent last year at Camp Tombstone in Afghanistan and holds the rank of Commander.

Commander Rypien was home on leave this month and made a presentation to students at Wolfe Elementary School in the Katy Independent School District about his service to America. He then presented a U.S. flag to the school that had flown over Camp Tombstone and was signed by all of the military personnel at the base. David is an Eagle Scout and is currently assisting the Afghanistan military in learning how to build power plants and other critically important facilities for that nation.

David plans to return to the U.S. in May, 2007 and we can count on him to be involved in Scouting again soon after his return.
