The Houston Wilderness Passport is an educational program that encourages families to explore the outdoors together. The passport -- available in both English and Spanish -- can be downloaded from the web site of Houston Wilderness (www.houstonwilderness.org). Also available are maps, parent guides, teacher guides, and a calendar of special outdoor activities for children.

Akela's Trail – annually in November– adult only training event

The 2008 theme for this annual adult training event (formerly known as Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow), "Adventure in the Jungle," showed Cub Scout leaders and parents how to add fun and adventure to the Cub Scout program. Attendees planned their own unique schedule from over 50 sessions that help provide a more exciting program to the boys in their den or pack.

The Episcopal Scout Association sponsors a God and Country Retreat for youth ages 7 through 20 (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts) to work on their religious awards. Classes will include God & Me, God & Family, God & Church, and God & Life. The program is designed for all Protestant faiths.

McNair Cub Adventure Camp – Bovay Scout Ranch / Navasota, Texas

Family Camping Weekends: Packs, dens, or individual families can make reservations at this fee-base program camp near Navasota. Activities include archery, pellet guns, BMX bikes, horizontal climbing wall, fishing, swimming, nature, astronomy, hiking, and much more! Four meals served in an air-conditioned dining hall are included in your registration fee. NOTE: This is the only approved site at which Tiger Cub, Wolf, or Bear Cub Scout dens may camp as a den unit rather than as part of a pack overnighter campout. See Sam Houston Area Council Cub Scout Camping Guidelines for more information.
Pack Outing Weekends - Packs may use the campsites at a minimal fee to provide their own program and meals. Program areas are not open and staffed; meals are not served in the dining hall. A BALOO-trained leader is required to be in attendance at a pack outing weekend.

Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum - Galveston
Offers periodic workshops for completion of the Cub Scout Academics Geology belt loop and pin. For more information, visit the museum web site (www.oceanstaroec.com/education/scouts.htm). An educational program is conducted the second Saturday of every month and is free for children 18 or younger. Scout-specific workshops are held on the third weekend of the month.
Project Wild Training – for adult leaders
Project WILD is a wildlife-focused conservation education program. It is used by educators nationwide. The activites in the instructional manual are easily adaptable to Cub Scouts activities.
Puff-Up - Catholic Scouting Retreat– held annually in October

Conducted by the Galveston-Houston Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting, Puff-Up is a day long set of activities for Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts and their families to promote a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith. River, Lakes, Bays'N Bayous Trash Bash - March 27, 2010
